As a developing league, we utilized Punchy’s curriculum to train and successfully develop our first scrimmage eligible team of skaters, all of whom were new to the sport. The training was implemented with a multi-faceted approach, ensuring that the coaches were well-supported in their role; whereby, feedback was provided in a manner that highlighted achievements, as well as addressed areas in need of development. As a skater, the program allowed me to focus on the development of fundamentals, which were imperative to subsequent skill-building. I have a sincere amount of respect for Punchy as a coach, as well as a player who leads by example on the track; with their experience in both of these roles, they truly are a subject-matter expert of this awesome sport. I believe that any player or coach, who has the opportunity to implement their program, will be fundamentally-grounded and a more successful player or coach as a result. I extend my sincerest and deepest gratitude, as their program has assisted in building our team, our league, and I, as a player; directly due to the combined efforts of Punchy and our coaches, my team and I are preparing for our first bout!   ​

I wanna say a huge thanks to you - not only for sharing derby skill stuff, but also your love for the sport. You make me want to be a better coach and team member and that's super cool, but I think what's even better is that you inspire people to just be better people:  fair, compassionate, resilient, self aware, goal driven - I fucking love that about you!! I want to point out that what also sets you apart from other coaches is your accessibility. Usually we pay for a clinic and we get just that. You however provide us with ongoing support in many forms and for that I just want to squeeze the bejesus outta you!! It makes everything better to know we have a Punchy on our side!

I started coaching roller derby with zero experience. We did the 6 month online package and haven't stopped moving forward. We have been steadily moving up in WFTDA ranking. Punchy taught me the skills to help run a successful league. They built our training plans and got us on track. The structure they use has helped my training committee develop effective practice plans. We are stronger than ever.

Thank you for allowing me to join your clinic on Saturday at Brisbane. It was fantastic. I learned more than I even thought I would. You gave me the love for derby again, and I felt that the techniques you gave me would improve my game play enormously. Not only have you helped me but you have now helped my entire club and for this I am truly grateful. The structure of your training plan and the way you had everyone involved in all the drills was excellent. You gave me the "light bulb" moment that I needed, for I have been struggling with my derby journey for the last 6 months on where my place is and you have given me the skills and drive to work harder and think smarter on the track.  ​

Punchy O'Guts has a unique approach to leading their camps. Instead of the conventional camp format, Punchy inspires proactive derby thinking from skaters. By leading the skaters to answer questions through educational discussion, they form independent-thinking skaters who can develop roller derby in the future.

(About the Aggressive, Smart Jamming Class) It was pretty magical. Thank you for a wonderful time, Punchy. The way you broke down everything is going to help me jam better than Smuckers, and with a name like Smuckers it has to be good.

You were the best derby coach/trainer I ever had with Maine Roller derby, hands down. I think moving up 11 spots in WFTDA rankings [in one season] says it all.

I've wanted to improve my jamming skills for four years. I thought I was either inadequate or dyslexic because it hadn't happened in four years, three days, thirteen minutes, and thirty-one seconds. Then, I spent two sessions with Punchy and it was abundantly clear I could be Suzy Hotrod by next year.

Punchy O'Guts is the Derby Whisperer, their style and approach to coaching was a perfect fit with our league. Punchy skated into our league and into our hearts. They understood what we needed as a team and it was the lift our skaters needed to excel to a higher level of roller derby.

From the day we contacted them about running a workshop, Punchy spent the time and asked the questions so they could best serve our league. They crafted a workshop to address our questions and needs. Our league is serious about winning and Punchy cut right to the quick of the matter. The minute they hit the floor they won our league over with their sharp sense of derby skills and how to bring them out in skaters. Punchy truly left our league better than they found it and we would love to have them back again.

I felt Punchy's training was awesome! They kept things entertaining so that everyone was engaged and having fun while learning skills. Also, I really liked how they asked for the teammates to give positive feedback after the drills. Punchy made sure to explain how a skill would be used in play so that we could understand how the drills should be incorporated effectively.

When Punchy gives us new drills I always think "they are losing their mind, there is no way I can do this drill." But what do you know? I can actually do it. Maybe not to perfection, but I can at least do the motion!
